2017 Peoples' Choice Award - winner: The Black Cat by David Wells
We knew with the breadth of styles, subjects and mediums, that there was something for everyone, and this has been borne out with the results of our new Peoples' Choice Award. Every single one of our 37 artists exhibiting received votes.

david wellsThere were almost 300 votes cast, and the overall winner was a beautiful watercolour 'The Black Cat' by David Wells. A lot of visitors remarked on the amazing 'attitude' of the cat that David captured. David received £50 framing vouchers generously donated by Village Framers, Lillingstone Lovell. David (left) is seen receiving his prize from Alderton Art Festival Chair, Charlie Reece.

Runner-up was a pastel 'Indian Sunshine' by Jane Rhodes. There were two pictures in joint third place, Brian Harrington's lovely watercolour 'The Fairy Glen' and Heather Hundle's amazing 'Aplomado Falcon'(acrylic).

Our top artists were Heather Hindle, David Wells, Anne Gilbert, Brian Harrington and Val Goldfinch who each received a high number of votes for multiple paintings.

Below are the top four paintings, we apologise for the poor quality of the photographs. It would have been too difficult to take down each of the paintings so we took them in situ. Unfortunately this has resulted in reflection from the light and the church windows.

Thank You - 2017 was excellent!
Our doors closed at 4pm today on what can only be described as a wonderful two-days. There were 190 fabulous paintings hanging in the church, along with hundreds more unframed originals and prints. There was an impressive range of styles and media used with something to suit everyone.

Our new People's Choice, sponsored by Village Framers, Lillingstone Lovell, was a real hit with our visitors, with almost 300 casting their votes. It was really nice to see that every artist had at least one piece of artwork voted for. Our winner was David Wells, with his beautiful painting of a black cat - full write up coming soon!

Our crafters were excellent, with a myriad of different crafts for sale, each time we looked they seemed to be doing a great trade!

The barbecue and tea tent did a roaring trade both days, and we are not surprised having tasted the delicious cakes!

The white elephant (Alderton Antiques!) and our book stand always had people buying, and our raffle with some really good prizes did well. There was a lovely backdrop of harp music to set the event off.

We are really grateful to our artists, crafters, cake bakers, raffle prize getters, white elephant stall organisers and everyone from the village who helped before, during, and now after the event.

Not least of all, we appreciate everyone who turned out - on the hot Saturday and not so hot Sunday, to purchase the wonderful paintings, crafts and everything else that was on offer - THANK YOU.

See You all next year!

Rain could not stop us!
Wow, what a wonderful weekend. Even Saturday's rain could not dampen spirits. Our church looked amazing with hundreds of wonderful original paintings and artwork lining the walls, and the crafters, village stalls and amazing musicians created a real atmosphere outside the church.

We sold a record number of framed and unframed paintings this year, which is not surprising as the standard of work was very high.

The rain made Saturday's open air play, Murder on the Terrace, a bit damp but everyone still enjoyed themselves, and Sunday's Tempest was very well received.

We would like to thank everyone who made this year's Art Festival such a success. There are far to many to mention by name but include all the teams involved in organising, tent erection, PR, picture hanging, cake baking, white elephant stall, tea tent, home produce, raffle, open air plays and the barbecue. Special thanks to all our artists and crafters, as we would not be able to hold our Art Festival without them!

Finally a huge appreciation for all the individuals who visited our Art Festival over the two days and who purchased so many paintings.

Wow, an amazing Festival
The clearing up is almost done following our Art Festival, and what an amazing festival we had. There were over 200 original framed artworks hanging for sale in our church, covering a wide range of subjects from animals, seascapes, local views and landscapes from far off places. The standard was very good which accounted for why we sold so many of these beautiful paintings this year. There were similar numbers of unframed originals and prints which also sold well.

Our new craft fair was very popular, and our crafters did us proud with their lovely items.

For the first time this year, we arranged entertainment in the form of excellent Richard the Taleteller, talented Holly~Alice Morton on the harp, and amazing busker Chris Duckett. These excellent entertainers added to the buzz this year.
