This is the first time Joy has exhibited her beautiful paintings at the Alderton Art Fesival.
Anna attended art classes for several years , painting in oil, water colour, pen and pastel.
She enjoys new challenges, often including flowers and animals in her work, particularly horses which have always been her passion.
She is a member of the south Northants arts society.
Anna runs a small art group in the village of Bradden where friends meet up one a week and enjoy painting together.
Jill works in oils, mixed media and pastel, a firm favourite for the local woodland scenes … her love of colour is apparent in her work.
She has had work selected by Society of Women Artists and exhibited in the Mall Galleries.
More of her work can be seen on www.woburnartgallery.co.uk
I painted in watercolours for a number of years, tried acrylics and just couldn’t get on with them.
Then I discovered pastels, once I got the right paper (no cheap stuff) I found this was my medium, I now love to paint animal portraits big and small and have recently had a go at human portraits just to test myself and see how accurate I am (not too bad but need a bit more practice).
Sue Rudland is an artist working from her studio in Silverstone, Northamptonshire. Her work is figurative and features people and food in oils, pastels and mixed media. Through her paintings she evokes memories of the tastes, aromas and colours of food, be it a humble turnip, ripe tomatoes or a special glass of wine. She paints portraits and people enjoying meals or drinks with friends or family. She is currently working on a series of paintings of waiters seen on her travels.
Trips to the South of France have inspired paintings of grapevines through the seasons. Sue is currently experimenting with mixed media overpainted with oil glazes to achieve the rich colours and various textures on the leaves and gnarled trunks of the vines. This has resulted in several large tryptich works over two metres wide.
Sue studied at The West of England College of Art and at Goldsmiths College, London. Her work has been exhibited at The Mall Galleries and Northampton Town and County Art Society and is in private collections both at home and abroad.

She gives talks about her work and runs silk painting workshops (not during the virus outbreak)
A local artist, I paint in a contemporary style between realism and abstract, using watercolour and acrylics. I have recently completed a commission for 15 fluid art paintings in acrylics. The subjects that I like to paint are flowers and gardens, landscapes, seascapes, sunsets and of course fluid art abstract work.
I was
born in Higham Ferrers and now live in neighbouring Rushden, in lovely Northamptonshire. I’m very lucky to live near near the Nene Valley. While I’ve always been a doodler and enjoyed drawing I didn’t start painting until 2003. I suppose my first love is for wildlife and animals which I like to depict in different mediums and also on crafts. However, I move about between styles, mediums and subjects for most things I do as I feel there’s such a lot to learn and have a long held fear of getting bored.

Born in Suffolk Constable country one might think art was for me. However not until I attended a WI Watercolour Course at Denman College for the weekend only I started my Watercolour hobby. On the Monday I was searching out materials and tutors and that was that I attended Colin Bradbury s class at various venues and progressed to try all medias. I found acrylics good to make a statement hence interpreting World War 1 hoping the public might understand the artwork. Our tutor now David Bromage continues to help us on our way.
Since retirement I have joined a small art group in Northampton, I have always enjoyed art from a young age, and now with time to pursue this as a hobby.
Although I have done many painting’s over the years using different mediums I exhbited my paintings for the first time at the 2018 Alderton Art Festival.
Since moving to Northampton in 2013 and retiring, I joined a number of local art groups which has enabled me to continue to learn about a variety of painting mediums.
I particularly like watercolour which can provide a great sense of achievement when done well. I also like to work with pastels, oils, acrylic and indeed most mixed media. I have actively exhibited at a variety of locations and venues around the county.
My wife and I enjoy family time with our daughter, son and four grandchildren, and they are also my first line for opinion and criticism, (constructive), of my work.
Other hobbies include: archery, digital photography and editing, angling, reading, music and learning Keyboard. I am currently Chair of the Marina Park Residents’ Association, Vice Chair of St Luke’s Patient Participation Group and our Local Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator.

I have always enjoyed looking at art and architecture of all kinds. It wasn’t until I had back surgery four years ago that I had some time on my hands. It was then that I decided to Google “how to draw an apple”. I found it rewarding to see what my pencil produced.
I now take portrait classes at Buckingham Art School, enjoying the whole process and sharing it with like minded people.
If only I had more time!
