Brought up in the countryside I have a love of nature, and paint the landscapes I see that I love, so my work is “art from the heart”! I’m especially interested in “The Patchwork Land” and like the colours of the fields separated by hedges and trees, or “field furniture” as I call it.
Mainly self taught, I paint in acrylics on canvas. I like to walk among the landscapes I paint. I also love gardens. I prefer to sketch on site before I paint.
I’m privileged this year to be on a Studio Practice mentoring course with Newlyn Art School.”
In common with many artists I was always drawing as a child yet the opportunity and necessity to do so gradually gave way to many competing interests and, all too quickly, the need to earn a living.
I enjoyed my career as a teacher of English and drama in Bedfordshire schools until retirement.
In later years I have rekindled something of my childhood passion for drawing and painting. I paint with acrylics which allow me the opportunity to explore aesthetic and thematic ideas as a work progresses.
I’m a self taught artist and have been painting for about 18 years as a hobby, I started with watercolours and now paint in all mediums I particularly like acrylic and my favourite subject is landscapes. I have exhibited my work in local exhibitions and have sold lots of my work. I go to a local art group once a week. This will be my first time at Alderton art festival And am looking forward to it.
I am a self taught artist and have loved drawing and painting since childhood. My parents gave me my first sketchbook to stop me drawing on my bedroom walls. I could have been a Banksy!!
A love of the natural world has led me to draw and paint animals and flowers. I am a member of Towcester art society and Northampton botanical society.
My paintings are abstract or semi-abstract, mainly in acrylic. However I also use watercolour, oils, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, wax, felt pens…..anything really.
Martine Soldano is the face and name behind Snips and Pieces paper collage artwork. Martine uses a mix of papers from various sources; hand coloured by herself, magazine snips and recycled papers to create beautiful artwork. The simple process of paper collage allows her to layer and compose shapes and colours to create striking floral pieces, landscapes, bespoke and themed pieces of choice. All original work by Martine is a one-off, no two pieces are the same which makes them very unique.
As a local artist and tutor, Martine has successfully taught sold out workshops for both adults and children in the Northamptonshire area under the name of ‘Snips and Pieces’. She has sold work in retail outlets within the county and has forged close relationships with local businesses too.
For more examples of Martine’s work and workshops, please visit @snips_and_pieces on Instagram

I’m a self taught artist, working mainly in acrylics, I like to simplify or abstract the landscape to varying degrees, finding interesting subjects and compositions is a constant occupation. I like to experiment with different mark making methods, and produce bold, colourful works, that hopefully evoke a sense of the moment.
I am a fluid artist from Northampton and work with acrylic paints and pouring mediums to create one off pieces of artwork. Acrylic pouring is such a creative way to paint with many different techniques encompassed within. I love the unusual way in which the paints react and the fact that no 2 pieces will ever be the same, the paint does want it wants at times and you just quite literally have to go with the flow.
I am a traditional painter in oils and Watercolours, my basic aims are to explore light, shadows, reflections, recession, perspective and figures in my work. Favourite subjects being landscapes, seascapes, riverscapes and portraiture. I also enjoy “plein air painting” in Bedfordshire its adjacent counties and the coast. I am a member of art groups in Mid Bedfordshire.
I have been an art teacher for several years and have received my qualifications from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. My family and I have relocated to the United Kingdom in 2001 and is currently settled in Grafton Regis. I have been painting and creating art in my spare time and have taken part in several art exhibitions over the years. I have been focused in the past mostly on figure studies in oils and acrylics but for the past few years I prefer exploring landscapes and flower studies. I am especially interested in the Baroque Dutch flower studies and would like to recreate them with a modern twist.
Details coming soon.
I have always been interested in art during my school, but didn’t start painting till my late 40’s.
On leaving school went into engineering as Toolmaker Apprentice followed by various engineering and technical roles up to my retirement.
I class myself as a hobby painter in Oils and Acrylics. Fortunately, my work is liked enough that I have sold in exhibitions and by private commissions.
My art covers all subjects such as Still Life, landscapes, Portraits and Animals.
I am member of the Boothville Art Group Northampton.
My work can be viewed on MJ ART Northampton /facebook which I try to keep updated.
I have enjoyed art from an early age with art material always at hand.
I am self taught and enjoy watercolours, coloured pencils, pastels and Chinese brush painting.
Over the past year I have done several animal drawings using coloured pencils. I love the texture that I can get with a sharp pencil. I still think I love drawing both large cats and domestic ones too. I have also had dog portrait commissions too. Watercolours are of places, landscapes and botanical. I was introduced to Chinese brush painting by a friend and picked up materials whilst travelling to the far east on a couple of holidays it is different to western art but enjoyable and relaxing.
I belong to Towcester Art Society, Northamptonshire Botanical Art Society and the Chinese Brush Painting Society

I am a local artist and have always been interested in art and painting, having done a number of courses on the internet and at art schools. I also enjoy learning by copying the paintings of other artists.
My preferred medium is oil and I also enjoy acrylics and mixed media; painting small portraits and large landscapes in a variety of styles from loosely realistic to abstract.”
I have always enjoyed drawing, which is probably why I took a career in illustration. Initially qualifying as a technical illustrator in the aerospace industry, my career also included medical and scientific illustration and computer graphics.
Now primarily a pastel artist I endeavour to capture the world around me in all its detail, a main source of inspiration being the light and shadows found in our estuaries and rivers. I also enjoy painting wildlife in pastel on velour, which I find gives the subject matter an almost tactile finish.

I am a self taught artist. I have always loved drawing and have some years ago I started painting with water colours and the realised that I really like the freedom I felt using oils. I paint all subjects mainly things that catch my eye.
I grew up in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe and I started painting when I left school as I had enjoyed my art sessions. I have continued since then although I have had no formal training. I like working with oils as they are vibrant and forgiving. My main interests have been seascapes and landscapes.
Born and raised in Bedfordshire, Jane has exhibited successfully in numerous group and solo shows. Her paintings have also been shown at the Mall Galleries in London with The Pastel Society and The Society of Women Artists and can now be viewed at Mosaic in Woburn or by appointment at her studio.
She works with art groups as a demonstrator and tutor and has weekly classes and a full programme of workshops every year.
Best known for her atmospheric pastel paintings of seascapes, landscapes and urban scenes, she also uses various other media when experimenting with colour and texture in her more abstract work.
I am a self taught artist and enjoy using many different mediums to create artwork. I especially enjoy doing portraiture.
I like the subtle effects of watercolours next to the bright vivid colours from pure inks.
For some of my art work I use gold leaf, embroidery silks and patterned tissues to achieve interesting effects.
I accept commissions and can be contacted by email at tina.bacon25@gmail.com
Jenny’s details are coming soon.

I have drawn ever since I could hold a pencil. Attended both Derby Art College and Coventry gaining a degree in Graphic Design. Bristol University followed and then I taught Art for a few years to adults. I worked in the design studio at the Open University for 22 years – during this period I was not actively painting.
In 2009 I began again with my art – I’ve sold internationally, exhibited in London, the NEC and locally.
Until lockdown I was mainly an animal artist working in pastel on velour. – my pastels are left gathering dust, whilst I’ve moved on to oils – painting landscapes, seascapes, still life etc. Please take a look at more of my artwork on my new website www.rosamundewood.art
I’ll have cards of my artwork at Alderton as my range and style is quite extensive.
My interest in art started in my youth mainly with cartooning. Other than for a period during the 1970s where I produced some paintings in oil paint, it was not until my retirement in 2012 that I seriously started again, this time with acrylics, soft pastel, pen/brush and ink, Inktense pencils, and most recently oil and watercolour. I have also produced some small sculptures/models with air dry clay.
As for subject matter, most of my paintings and sketches are pets, wild animals and portraits, but I have dabbled in landscapes, seascapes and some architecture pictures. As with most artists my scope of subject matter is not cast in stone, as other forms, including abstract, may attract me in the future.

Hello and thanks for having a look out my work on this website. My name is Barry Turland and I am local artist, self taught with a fascination in painting in oils, acrylic and watercolour with the effects of using mixed media, throughout.
Thank you for your interest.
I’m an artist mainly specialising in watercolour, and although I’ve drawn and painted all my adult life, I’ve dedicated myself seriously to watercolour for the past 8 years.
My main inspiration is nature, but although I paint in a realistic style, I’m more concerned with the feeling and essence of a subject, rather than a precise portrayal.
I’m also interested in mythology and classic literature, and I enjoy the freedom of imagination that these subject offer.
I am a mixed media artist working from my studio in East Northamptonshire. Coming from a technical background in graphic, architectural and product design, I was encourage to start painting by my Mother (a keen amateur artist who runs an art group), and discovered a love for creating, drawing and painting in a range of media and in a diverse variety of subjects. I subsequently went back to College, where I studied a Combined Studies BA Degree – which incorporated Art, Sculpture, Photography and Art History.
I am passionate about painting, and all aspects of art and design, a keen photographer, and am currently working on book illustration. I enjoy galleries, museums and exhibitions – a love I have shared with my Mother from a very early age.
I have been immersed in art and countryside, flora and fauna, gardening, walking, landscapes, wildlife and animals all of my life, and these elements, I believe are reflected in my work.
I work mainly in mixed media, on linen textured media as I feel this best lends itself to the combination of technical and creative skills I strive to combine. I hope you enjoy looking at my work and that it expresses even a fraction of the enormous pleasure I derive in painting.
I am a member of Kettering & District Art Society, The Society of Wildlife artists, and The Fellowship of Professional and Amateur Artists where she recently received a prize at their Open Exhibition.

Anne was our winner of the ‘Peoples Choice’ award in 2018 and 2019.
I am a mainly self taught artist who started painting watercolour landscapes thirty years ago after a friend persuaded me to try painting as a hobby.
A few years ago I was asked to do a portrait of a pet dog and reluctantly agreed to give it a try although I had not attempted to paint animals before. The painting was a success and this aroused my interest in the subject of animal portraiture and I now specialises in animal studies using pastel as my favourite medium for this subject. I also enjoys figurative drawing and painting.
Some of my small landscape paintings are included in private collections across the world:- in America, Canada, Mexico, France and the Oman.
I have become more interested in colour pencil recently and have attempted a variety of subjects, some of which are in the exhibition. I am still doing animals, in both Pastel and Coloured Pencils, but mainly for commissions now.
Many of my animal paintings, and other subjects, have been reproduced on the cards which I have for sale at the exhibition.
Commissions accepted – email :- pamelafitzsimmons@yahoo.co.uk
I am a freelance illustrator and artist. I have worked as a freelance illustrator since 1982, in that time I have covered all fields of design, advertising & publishing in the UK and overseas.
Most of my works are all original paintings in either oil or acrylic.
Most of these are finished with gold/silver leaf and crystals, which gives then a added depth and lustre.

Self taught amateur artist now retired. I started painting using water colours and pen and ink pictures nearly 40 years ago, currently I now focus almost entirely on abstract imagery. My pictures are created in many different ways, using techniques that I am able to glean from various presentations. I scour the internet for the work of other artists and attend exhibitions e.g. the RA Summer Exhibition to draw inspiration from the works presented. My ambition is alway the next painting which I hope, be better than all my previous work.
Lisa grew up on the south coast of England, moving to Milton Keynes in her late 20s. Lisa has always enjoyed the art of story telling, be it film, book, music or painting. Her paintings have a story to tell.
As a keen people watcher and observer of life, her inspiration for a painting comes from the figure or figures, the way a person is standing, clothing worn or the interaction between a couple or group of people. She is interested in portraying people in every day life and the relationship within their surroundings. Using a limited palette she is fascinated by the magic of colour mixing and the way colours can bounce of each other.
She also loves on occasion to paint animals.
I have always enjoyed looking at art and architecture of all kinds. It wasn’t until I had back surgery four years ago that I had some time on my hands. It was then that I decided to Google “how to draw an apple”. I found it rewarding to see what my pencil produced.
I now take portrait classes at Buckingham Art School, enjoying the whole process and sharing it with like minded people.
If only I had more time!
